How to send voice notes on Orbit

Recording a voice note

Press and hold the microphone icon in the composer to start recording, and release to send. A quick swipe away while holding usually cancels the recording without sending it.

The waveform player

Once sent, a voice note appears as a waveform with a play button and duration, letting the recipient see roughly how long the message is before committing to listening.

Getting a clear recording

Hold your device a normal speaking distance away and avoid recording in windy or very noisy environments, since background noise on a voice note cannot be edited out afterwards.

• Speak at a normal distance from the microphone
• Avoid recording while typing or in loud rooms
• Keep messages reasonably short for easier listening

Playback controls

Tap play on a voice note to listen, and tap again to pause partway through. Playback position is remembered if you pause and come back to it later in the same session.
