How to remove a member from your group
Last updated
As an owner, you can remove members who break your rules or don't belong in the group, directly from the member list.
How to remove someone
Open the group's member list, find the person, and choose the remove option from their profile menu. They lose access to the group's messages immediately.
What happens to their coins
If you remove a member within 7 days of them joining a paid group, the coins they paid are refunded to them. If you remove them after that 7-day window, the coins instead credit to you as the owner, since the membership period was already substantially used.
- Removed within 7 days: member is refunded
- Removed after 7 days: coins credit to the owner
Before removing someone
Consider whether a warning or a temporary mute-style approach fits the situation better, since removal is immediate and, for paid groups past the 7-day window, doesn't return the member's coins.
Frequently asked questions
- Can a removed member rejoin later?
- Yes, unless you've taken other steps to block them; removal on its own doesn't prevent rejoining through the invite link.
- Does removing a member from a free group affect coins at all?
- No, the refund and payout rules only apply to paid groups where coins changed hands to join.
- Can admins I've appointed also remove members?
- That depends on the permissions you've granted them; check your group's admin settings to confirm what they can do.
