Managing your blocked users list

Last updated

Every account you've blocked is listed in one place in Settings, so you can review who you've blocked and unblock anyone whenever you choose.

Blocking someone

From a profile or a message's action menu, choose Block. This takes effect immediately — the person can no longer message you or send you a DM.

What blocking does and doesn't do

Blocking stops direct messages and DMs from that person to you. It does not remove them from groups you both belong to, and it does not hide their messages posted in a shared group's general chat — leave the group separately if you want to avoid seeing them entirely.

Viewing your blocked list

Open Settings and find Blocked Users to see everyone you've blocked. This is also where you go to undo a block.

Unblocking

Find the person in the Blocked Users list and choose Unblock. This restores their ability to message and DM you; it doesn't notify them that you've unblocked them.

Frequently asked questions

Does the person know I've blocked them?
No, Orbit doesn't notify anyone when they've been blocked.
Can a blocked user still see my profile?
Blocking stops messaging, not general profile visibility within shared groups; leave a shared group if you want more separation.
Is there a limit to how many people I can block?
No, you can block as many accounts as you need to.
