Dealing with harassment and bullying

Immediate steps

Block the person first if the harassment is coming directly at you — this stops them messaging or DMing you right away and takes effect instantly, no review needed.

Then report the specific messages so there's a record for the Orbit team, and if the harassment is happening across a whole group rather than from one person, report the group too.

• Block: stops direct contact from that person immediately
• Report the message: flags the content for review
• Report the group: flags a room where harassment is tolerated or encouraged
• Leave: removes you from a group that isn't improving

If it's happening in a group you don't own

You can ask the group owner to intervene, but you aren't obligated to. Blocking the person and reporting the messages works whether or not the owner acts, and leaving is always available if the group stops feeling safe.

If you own the group

Remove the person causing harm — removal is immediate and they can only get back in with a fresh invite link, so regenerate the link afterward if you want to be certain. Report serious cases to Orbit as well; owner action and platform review are separate layers.

Enforcement

Confirmed harassment is treated seriously and can lead to warnings, message removal, group removal, or account restrictions for the person responsible, as set out in the Community Guidelines. Repeat behaviour across multiple reports is weighed more heavily than a single isolated incident.

Should I reply to a harasser to tell them to stop?

You don't have to — blocking is usually more effective than a warning, since it removes their ability to contact you at all.

Can someone harass me if I've blocked them?

A blocked user cannot message or DM you, but if they're still in a shared group they could still post there; leave the group or report if that continues.

Does reporting harassment cost me anything or affect my account?

No, reporting has no downside for the person making the report.
