How group membership renewals and expiry work
Last updated
Paid group access tied to a weekly or monthly plan doesn't last forever — here's what happens as that period ends.
When a plan expires
If your plan is time-limited and you don't renew, your access to the group's messages ends when the period is up. Lifetime plans never expire, so this only applies to weekly, monthly or similar plans.
Renewing access
Renewal happens by paying the plan's coin cost again from within the group or its join page, the same way you joined originally. Orbit doesn't renew memberships automatically or charge your balance without you actively confirming.
Avoiding surprise expiry
Keep an eye on group notifications near the end of your plan period. Since renewal is manual, it's worth checking your active memberships in your account if you don't want to lose a spot in a group you rely on.
Frequently asked questions
- Will I be charged automatically when my plan ends?
- No. Orbit doesn't auto-charge for renewals; you choose to pay again to keep your access.
- Do I lose my message history if my plan expires?
- You lose active access to the group, but rejoining later restores your ability to read and send messages again.
- Can I get a refund if I forget to renew and I'm removed?
- Expiry isn't a removal by the owner, so the standard seven-day refund policy for owner-initiated removals doesn't apply here.
