Cosmetic expiry and renewal

Last updated

Not every cosmetic is permanent. Timed items last a set number of days, from as little as 1 up to 365, and Orbit lets you know before one runs out so you're not caught off guard.

How timed items work

When you buy a timed cosmetic, its duration starts counting from the moment of purchase, not from when you first equip it. The item page shows the exact duration before you buy, so there's no ambiguity about how long you'll have it.

What happens at expiry

Once a timed item's duration ends, it expires automatically. If it was equipped at the time, it's unequipped and no longer shown on your profile or messages — the category simply reverts to unequipped rather than defaulting to another item.

Renewal notifications

Before a timed item expires, you get a renewal notification so you have the chance to buy it again with free coins if you want to keep it. This is a heads-up rather than an automatic renewal — nothing is repurchased on your behalf.

Permanent items don't need renewal

Items marked as permanent ownership at purchase never expire and don't generate renewal notifications, since there's nothing to renew.

Frequently asked questions

Does Orbit automatically renew expiring cosmetics for me?
No, renewal is manual. You'll get a notification beforehand, but you need to buy the item again yourself to keep it.
Can I extend a timed item before it expires?
Check the item's store page — some items may support buying again while still active to extend the duration, but this depends on the specific item.
What happens to an expired item's slot?
The category it belonged to simply shows nothing equipped until you equip a different owned item or buy a new one.
