Changing the email on your account
Last updated
Your account email is where password reset links and important account notices are sent, so it's worth keeping it current, especially if you're changing phones or leaving an old email address behind.
Before you change it
Make sure you have access to the new email address before switching, since you'll typically need to confirm it. If you're currently signed in with Google, your account email is tied to your Google account rather than a separate field you can edit independently.
Making the change
Go to Settings and look for account or email options, enter the new address, and confirm it through whatever verification step is shown. Until that confirmation completes, keep access to your old email in case you need to fall back to it.
Why it matters
An out-of-date email means password reset links go to an address you can no longer access, which can lock you out of the account entirely. Keeping it current is the single most useful thing you can do to avoid a lockout.
If you can't access Settings to change it
If you're locked out and can't reach Settings, contact support@orbitgroups.online and be ready to describe your account in detail — group ownership, username, approximate sign-up date — to help verify it's yours.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I change my email if I signed up with Google?
- Your sign-in email follows your Google account in that case, so change it through Google or add a password-based method instead.
- Will changing my email change my username?
- No, they're independent — your username and display name stay the same when you update your email.
- What happens to my old email after I change it?
- It stops being linked to your account and can no longer be used for sign-in or password resets.
