What other members can see

Other members see your username, your display name, your avatar if you upload one, and anything you write. That is the whole list. They do not see your email address, your sign-in method, your IP address or any payment detail.

You choose your username at sign-up and it does not have to resemble your name. Many members deliberately use a handle they do not reuse anywhere else, which is good practice — cross-platform username reuse is the single most common way pseudonyms get unmasked.

What Orbit itself stores

We need an email address for sign-in and account recovery, and if you buy coins the payment processor handles your card details — we never see them. Beyond that we store the account, profile and message data required to run the service.

Our privacy policy sets this out in full, including how long data is kept and how to delete your account. Deleting an account removes your profile and disconnects your messages from it.

Anonymity is not a shield for abuse

A pseudonym protects your privacy from other members. It does not exempt anyone from the community guidelines. Harassment, threats, sexual content involving minors, scams and hate speech are removed and the accounts behind them banned, regardless of what name they used.

This is not in tension with privacy — it is what makes privacy usable. Rooms where abuse has no consequence are rooms where nobody feels safe enough to speak freely in the first place.

Practical habits for staying anonymous

Anonymity leaks through detail, not through your name.

• Use a username you have never used elsewhere.
• Avoid an avatar that appears on your other accounts — reverse image search is trivial.
• Do not name your employer, school, or the exact area you live in.
• Be careful with screenshots: they often contain more than the message you meant to share.
• Remember that a story told across many messages can identify you even when no single message does.

Can I use Orbit without giving an email address?

No. An email is required to sign in and to recover your account, and it makes moderation possible. It is never shown to other members.

Will my real name ever be shown?

Only if you type it somewhere yourself. Orbit never asks for a legal name and there is no verification step that would collect one.

Can I change my username later?

Yes, you can update your display name and profile from Settings at any time.

Is anonymous chat allowed to be unmoderated?

No. Every room, anonymous or not, is subject to the same community guidelines, and reports are reviewed the same way.
